Week 3 ~ Day 1

Yesterday I started week 3 of the Couch to 5K running plan. And I did it!!!

If you would have told me two months ago that I would be able to jog for 3 minutes without stopping I would have told you that you're crazy. But I did it!!! And I almost did it twice!!! On the second repetition I had to stop at 2.30 minutes, but I almost made it!!

When I first started this program I could barely make it through 1 minute of jogging. Now I just did 3. Twice!! Progress indeed!!!

Let the running begin!!

A few months ago I decided that I had put off exercising long enough and really needed to get serious. I bought a treadmill back in January and used it religiously for the first month. Now it just sits there unused. Randy said that would happen and he was right. (Ssshhhh...don't tell him I said that!!)

My best friend Tammy was feeling the same way so we started walking three times a week. And it felt great!!! We were averaging 1.5 miles in about 30 minutes. Then I found the Couch to 5K running plan. It sounded simple enough and I've read several bloggers who are doing it and it's working for them.

So we started it. And it's HARD!!!!! I seriously don't think it's designed for people over 40. But we're sticking to the plan and I can slowly see some results. A few months ago there is no way I could have ran/jogged for any amount of time and now I'm doing it for at least one minute at a time. Progress!!

Last Thursday I participated in a 2.2 mile "fun" run at DMC. Next to giving birth, it was the hardest thing I've ever done. The wind was blowing at 20+mph and that made the running part really hard. I finished in 36 minutes (6 minutes over my original goal time) but at least I finished. And I didn't die doing it. Progress!!

Saturday morning I participated in the American Heart Walk. It was a 5K walk around Whataburger field. I finished in about 50 minutes and know I would have done ALOT better if I wouldn't of had to navigate around all the slo-pokes. Progress!!

This week we'll start week 3 of the program. I'll keep you posted on how it goes!!
